Yesterday I visited the 3 classrooms at Marble Hill Nursery School and spoke to the 3,4 and 5 year olds about taking care of their teeth. Actually, two puppets, Little Bo Beep and Mousie, were the key speakers. Little Bo Beep and the children explained to mousie, who was not such a good brusher, the rules of a healthy smile:

• Brush twice a day for two minutes. Let a grown-up help with the back teeth.
• Avoid sticky sweet foods, juice and soda
•  Visit your dentist for a check up and cleaning regularly

I was impressed by the children’s knowledge of bacteria, plaque and cavities. They were eager to learn more and to follow Little Bo Beep’s good advice.
